Dentures in Scarsdale

Patients needing multiple teeth replaced may choose from a complete (Full) or Partial Denture(s).

Complete (Full) Dentures are created to replace all the teeth in the upper and/or lower jaw. The teeth may have all been lost prior to visiting Scarsdale Dental Group or the determination is made to remove the remaining teeth on that Upper and/or Lower jaw prior to installing a full denture. The traditional complete (Full) dentures is molded to cover the patients gums versus the implant suported dentures rest above the natural gums.

Partial Dentures are made when only a few missing or decayed adjacent teeth need to be replaced. Partial dentures either attach to crowns on either side of the denture; afix to implants or to a metal framework that is then attached to the teeth on both sides of the partial denture. The metal framework dentures are have the drawbacks of needing to be removed and stored safely daily, cleaning requires a solution versus a Thoothbrush and Thoothpaste, and your smile is unnatural looking as the metal is noticeable in your mouth.

Depending on patient preference and jaw bone condition a denture can now be either removable or a surgically anchored into the upper or lower bone jaw as a fixed replacement for missing teeth. The denture includes an acrylic base that is custom made in the dental laboratory and is made to look like natural gums.

Removable dentures are made after the gum tissue where the dentures are to be held have healed. The removal denture sits over the gums.

Removable partial dentures are made when only a few teeth need to be replaced. Removable partial dentures either attach to crowns on either side of the denture what makes this different from a bridge or to a metal framework that is then attached to the teeth on both sides of the partial denture. Full removable dentures cover the entire upper or lower jaw and affix via cream.

Fix partial or full dentures attach to implants. This attachment still requires the Denture to include material to make it appear similar to natural gums. Fixed dentures are supported by the jaw bone, and therefore do not cover the entire gum.
